“Welcome,” Weston said to the class. “Today we’re going to use gold paint and decorate our candies.”

I purposely showed up a few minutes late, so that I didn’t have to talk to Weston before class started. After talking to my brother I took a walk to clear my head. One common thought continued to replay in my mind, I wanted him. I just had to convince him to stay in Columbia, but how?

“You’re late,” Weston said from behind me, causing my body to jump.

“Yeah, traffic.” Which was a lie. When he walked around me he surprised me by brushing his hand across my ass. The touch caught me off guard and I yelped. I started to cough trying to hide my surprise.

“I hope you don’t plan to disrupt the rest of the class, Miss Nelson,” he teased. “We need to focus today.”

“I’m totally, one hundred percent focused.” I was telling another lie. He stayed rooted to the spot behind me, causing my insides to squirm. The man did things to me. After five years, my body was craving his touch. “Okay, maybe more like ninety-nine percent.” He finally stepped away chuckling.

We spent the first part of the class painting our molds. It was a tedious task because you had to get in every indent to ensure the image came through fully. Several of the students complained while trying to paint their molds perfectly. One woman was bitching about how ridiculous it was to use gold paint. She continued to mutter how people just want to eat the chocolate, they don’t care about the gold trim.

I wondered if Weston enjoyed his job. Dealing with the public was never easy.

“Okay, we’ll let the paint dry while preparing our chocolate.” He spent the next two hours helping us create the prettiest chocolates. Well, his were pretty. The rest of the class seemed to struggle with direction and preventing the chocolate from burning to the sides of the pan. When the class finally finished I pretended to have difficulty with reassembling the double boiler. “Need some help.” He stepped up beside me and held out his hand.

“Sure.” I passed the double boiler toward him. “I think I missed a step somewhere.” Grabbing one of my prepared chocolates, I hesitated before taking a bite. “Mine taste bitter.” I took a small bite and immediately regretted my decisions.

“Want me to show you again?” He moved over to my side of the table.

“Don’t you have to close up the kitchen now?”

“When I’m done.”

I finally looked up at his face. “Is there anyone else here?”

“It’s a mall, Rylee.” He smiled and turned my body to face his. “No one will be coming in here if that’s what you want to know.”

“Um, no, I was just curious.”

He reached up and brushed a strand of hair back behind my ear. “Rylee.”

I found myself fidgeting with a button on his shirt. “Yeah?”

“What is it?”

“Nothing. I mean,” I said and dropped my hands to my side. “I seriously suck at making chocolate. How is that possible?”

His eyes went wide.
